We suggest that more nuanced understandings of sexting that distinguishes between the consensual and non-consensual creation and distribution of sexual images must inform legal, policy and education-based prevention responses to the misuse of new technologies. We argue that the non-consensual creation and distribution of sexual images has largely been framed in public debates as a problem of youth naiveté, with the effect of censuring young women's ‘risky’ sexual behaviour, and leaving unproblematised gender-based violence. In this article we consider four key issues in recent responses to youth sexting behaviours: (1) the definitional dilemmas surrounding the term ‘sexting’ (2) the inadequacy of existing legislative frameworks for responding to these behaviours (3) the problematic messages conveyed in anti-sexting campaigns and (4) the relative silence around gender-based violence in non-consensual and abusive encounters. Men are always gonna want to follow them around. The emerging phenomenon of youth ‘sexting’ presents a range of unique legal, policy and educative challenges. I’ve always respected women.’ So we just wanted to turn it over on its head and make people go, ‘Women and their bodies are beautiful. What a pleasure it is to degrade a woman. Hiring two porn actresses to play the heroines was seen as a provocation (it totally was) and the film is completely unapologetic regarding the content and brash aesthetic. Thicke’s additional explanation in the interview proved a bit murkier: “ Because all three of us are happily married with children, we were like, ‘We’re the perfect guys to make fun of this.’ People say, ‘Hey, do you think this is degrading to women?’ I’m like, ‘Of course it is. When YouTube pulled the uncensored version, his wife Paula Patton expressed solidarity on Twitter: “Nudity is Beautiful!!!” In an interview with GQ, Thicke explained that the song was inspired by Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up,” while the video grew out of him and Pharrell in the studio, mimicking “two old men on a porch hollering at girls like, ‘Hey, where you going, girl? Come over here!’ That’s why, in the video, we’re doing all these old men dances.” That doesn’t exactly seem like the kind of thing you cook up to cover your tracks. The nudity-featuring “unrated” version of director Diane Martel’s music video also walks a confusing line. NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles Blurred Lines dancer Emily Ratajkowski is talking ( yes, again) about her role in Robin Thicke’s racy summer video. The album's party-starting vibe continues with the energetic 'Ain't No Hat 4 That' and the breezy. Thanks to the oft-repeated line, “I know you want it,” a firestorm of discussion has broken out around the exact degree of the track’s “rapey-ness” - is the blue-eyed R&B-ist transgressing decades of “no means no” re-education, or is this simply a dance-floor provocation betwixt two intensely flirting individuals? 'For the Rest of My Life' finds Thicke trilling over lush, vintage disco-style strings, while the '80s-referencing 'Give It 2 U' pairs his falsetto croon with a sassy hook and a guest verse courtesy of Kendrick Lamar. Robin Thicke continues to have the biggest, um, song in the country with “Blurred Lines,” a spry and summery soul-dappled single that’s stirred up a little bit of controversy on its way to the top.
